Corey Harris
Who remembers meeting Corey Harris playing on the Downtown mall in Charlottesville back in the ’90′s? Yes, there was a time, while Corey was at UVA, that he would earn tips playing the blues on the streets of Charlottesville. It wasn’t just any blues either, it was Delta Blues and seeing him was like taking a time trip back to the ’30′s. He was playing Robert Johnson songs like no one had heard anyone play, except for the original recordings. Fred Boyce was running the Prism Coffee House during those day and asked Corey to play there and from then on, it wasn’t long before Corey Harris was creating his first CD and moving on to a great career in music. What’s nice is that Corey took a lot of great local musicians on tour with him allowing the world to know what kind of musicianship is really lurking about in Charlottesville.
